Fourteen Indicted In Child Sex Trafficking Ring - News Story - KRDO Colorado Springs







Every day, hundreds of girls fall prey to pimps and traffickers, commercially exploited for sex through force, fraud, or coercion.

There are as many as 2.8 million children who live on the streets. Within 48 hours of leaving home,
1/3 are lured into prostitution.

12 years old is the average age of girls who are forced into prostitution. There are less than 50 beds in shelters dedicated to trafficked minors.

  • Experts estimate at least 100,000 American juveniles are victimized through prostitution each year.(Shared Hope)After drug dealing, human trafficking is the second largest criminal industry in the world today and fastest growing.

  • Sex traffickers use a variety of methods to “condition” their victims including starvation, confinement,beatings, physical abuse, rape, gang rape, threats of violence to the victims and the victims’ families,forced drug use and threats.(Department of Health & Human Services)
